How far in advance should I order?
Two weeks' notice for custom cakes and dessert tables — wedding season
fills faster, so earlier is better. Cookies and breads often need less.
If your date is close, ask anyway; cancellations happen.
How does pricing work?
Every order is quoted individually based on size, servings, design detail
and timeline. Send your details through the form and you'll get a written
quote back before anything is scheduled.
Do you deliver or ship?
Shipping is a flat $10 for cookies, pastries and bread,
whatever the size of the order. Cakes and dessert tables cannot be
shipped — buttercream and tiers do not survive a courier — so those are
pickup or local delivery around Lakeland and Polk County. The delivery
fee depends on the event, and is quoted with everything else. Dessert
tables and corporate events are delivered and set up on site.
How do I pay?
Cash App, Venmo or Zelle — whichever is easiest for you.
Zelle is sent from inside your own banking app — use
the phone number above. Please put your name and event date in the
payment note so it can be matched to your order.
How do I book, and is there a deposit?
Send the form and you'll get a quote back. Once you're happy with it, a
$25 deposit books your date and comes straight off the
total — so it is not an extra charge, just the part you pay up front.
The deposit is non-refundable, because holding your date means turning
other orders away for it. Send it by Cash App, Venmo or Zelle — details
are in the question above.
Do you bake out of a commercial kitchen?
No — Sweets By Amanda is a home cottage food operation.
Everything is baked by me in my own kitchen rather than a commercial
facility, which is what keeps the batches small and the attention on
your order. It also means the kitchen is not subject to the routine
inspections a commercial bakery gets, so it is worth knowing if that
matters for your event.
Can you work around allergies?
Many recipes can be adapted, and there's a field on the order form for it.
Please note the kitchen handles wheat, dairy, eggs and nuts, so
cross-contact cannot be fully ruled out for severe allergies.
Can you recreate a photo I found?
Absolutely — send it along. You'll get an honest answer about what's
achievable at your size and budget, plus a suggestion or two.
